Fantastic Week for Hartnell Sports
The week started off by our Mens and Womens soccer team playing a double header friday afternoon. The men defeated Rival Monterey 6-0 while the women beat Canada college 2-1. That night our womens volleyball team played a tough match against West Valley before losing to one of the top teams in the conference. Also our Mens and womens basketball teams started their seasons off with the men going 2-1 in the Ohlone tournament and winning the consolation trophy. The women played in the Consumnes River tournament. They went 1-2 and played for the consolation trophy against Modesto and lost a close one. Our Womens Cross Country team brought home the Northern California Championship at Crystal Springs. They beat conference champs DeAnza college 74-79. Our men finished 8th and qualified for the Sate Championships. The big story was Daniel Tapia. He came in first place with a time of 20:49.This is the second year in a row Tapia won the Individual Northern California Championship. Later that night our Football team took on Gavilan College. Going into the contest Hartnell was 2-1 and trying to stay on top of the league. Falling behind early 14-0, Hartnell scored 40 unanswered points to beat Gavilan 40-21 and stay atop the conference with a 3-1 record. They will be playing rival Monterey this Saturday and try to get a share of the Conference Championship. Great job all the way around for our Men's and Women's Teams.
