11 questions with Adrian Moreno

Get to know Hartnell’s first year defender Adrian Moreno in this week's 11 Questions. Moreno was a standout player from Salinas High School. He has started 10 out of the 11 matches at the left back position.

1. Describe your emotions just before your first college game?
I was excited, but scared at the same time because everybody was bigger, and they looked more experienced. But once I began the warm-up I regained my confidence and I felt I belonged and it was the beginning of the next level of playing for me.

2. Is there any special meaning to your uniform number?
I have been wearing number 17 since I began playing soccer at the age of six. It was the number of my favorite player Zague of Club America at that time when I was living in Mexico City.

3. Who is your favorite athlete in another sport?

I would have to say Michael Jordan, because he changed the way basketball is played. He has a great story, being cut from his basketball team in high school, but then becoming one of the greatest players.

4. We always see you walking around with a camera, why do you have it?
I’m taking an intro to photography with Mr. Bosler and even though I have his class twice a week, I like carrying my camera because at any moment I can capture a beautiful scene.

5. What song, singer, or group is getting the most play on your IPOD?
Café Tacuba, my favorite group because they are so talented, one moment they are playing acid rock, then the next moment they can go into some sweet jazz mix. My favorite song from them is “Chilanga Banda”.

6. Which member of the Hartnell Soccer Team would you like to trade places with for the day and why?
Andy Zamora because he is a good leader and person, he never puts anyone down and he is always very positive out on the soccer field. I also love the way he plays the center midfield position. I know how difficult it is because I used to play that position.

7. I can’t live without…
my family, soccer, girls and rock and roll.

8. Ten years from now, I would like to be…
Well educated in architecture or a professional in soccer player, and a role model to youth.

9. What do you like to do when you are not playing soccer?
Spend time with my family, clean my house, spend time with my friends and go to radio bilingue (90.9 fm) where I have a radio show Monday and Saturday Nights from 4-6pm and I spin Spanish rock and salsa music.

10. List three words that best describe you…
Funny, self-sufficient, friendly

11. Name your Hartnell All-Time starting IX.
Goalkeeper: Israel Cisneros
Defenders: Noe Olivo, Miguel Serrano, Jairo Pacheco, Lino Sanches
Midfielders: Juan Alvarez, Andres Zamora, Aldo Meza, Diego Soto-Ochoa
Forwards: Ismael Ibarra, Eduardo Verduzco
I would sub myself in for who ever got tired.
